Personio goes New York (Sifted)

  • The German HR tech company already has 1,800+ employees across seven offices in Europe, but for its next big leap, it has grown into the US market by opening office number eight here in NYC. CEO Hanno Renner says it also plans to double its US workforce by the end of 2023 with a hiring spring focused on product, engineering, and design.

Welcoming a new office at Amazon’s New York Tech Hub (Amazon)

  • Speaking of office openings: Our own president Julie Samuels, Mayor Eric Adams, and several other elected officials were on hand to officially cut the ribbon on Amazon’s new hub at the historic Lord & Taylor Building on Fifth Avenue. More than 2,000 employees have begun working out of the space, and a unique partnership with CUNY has also opened free, on-site class and event space for 25 associated colleges in the five boroughs.

This startup wants to make return-to-office easier for new moms (Crain’s New York)

  • Milkmate, a Midtown-based startup founded last year, is doing something that we hope becomes the status quo: Making pumping at work less awkward and uncomfortable. The startup is working directly with employers to provide full-service pumps, furniture, and other wellness equipment in offices and other commercial real estate buildings.

NYC Is Fully Back Because Restaurants Are Loud Again (Grub Street)

  • In this case, the noise is a good thing – at least according to former Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Yes, There Are Plenty of Good Eats at San Gennaro (Eater NY)

  • New Yorkers go to the iconic festival in Little Italy for the food, of course. (And there are some special features for this year’s 97th anniversary!)
