Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a law placing a moratorium on “proof-of-work” cryptocurrency mining companies seeking new permits to operate in the state. The law is a first-in-the-nation measure striking at the state’s attempt to balance its economic development and climate goals. (Wall Street Journal)
The City Council approved what is considered the largest private affordable housing project ever to be built in Queens. The project, a massive $2 billion development known as Innovation Queens, will span five city blocks and add more than 3,000 homes, including 1,400 affordable units, in Astoria. (New York Times)
