Brooklyn-born, Bronx-raised Jovanni Luna went from having no coding experience just a few years ago to a six-figure software engineering job at Foursquare. How? A fellowship with Pursuit. The nonprofit's four-year training and mentorship program has helped its graduates often triple their income, and its leaders are doubling down their efforts to work with the City Council to reach more New Yorkers.
Fintech firm Capchase has provided $100M to women- and minority-led startups (Crain's New York Business)
NYC-based startup Capchase has provided $100 million in non-dilutive capital to women- and minority-led businesses, two years after setting a goal to reach that total. The idea is that a more accountable data-driven approach to funding decisions can remove unconscious biases in investment. “The big difference is that we didn’t really care about the market size or the founders, we only cared about the metrics,” co-founder and CEO Miguel Fernandez told Crain's.

NYC Ferry floats more service to Rockaway this summer (Gothamist)
