New York City’s Largest Office-to-Condo Conversion Prepares to Open (Bloomberg)
The 556-unit project in a landmarked Financial District tower will start getting its first tenants next month. It's one of the first major tests for how NYC plans to repurpose office space left vacant by hybrid work to get across the finish line on Mayor Eric Adams’ pledge to create 500,000 new homes in the next ten years.
NYC launches new office to help everyday New Yorkers shape their own neighborhoods (Gothamist)
The Dept. of City Planning shapes the map of NYC by greenlighting building plans, signing off on changes to the city’s zoning code, and proposing other neighborhood-level reforms. This is a move to redirect what’s normally a top-down development approach (and we can’t help but think there are some great tech startups with tools to power this effort.
