Tech:NYC president discusses future of artificial intelligence (NY1)

  • ICYMI: Our president and executive director Julie Samuels stopped by the NY1 studios to discuss what’s next for AI. At an event we recently hosted with IBM, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced a series of “AI Insight Forums” to bring more industry expertise into the halls of Congress to advise lawmakers considering regulations on the technology. It’s a good next step — AI is already everywhere and its use cases are countless. We only benefit from a collaborative approach that invests in safe, responsible ways for more New Yorkers to take advantage of it.

Crypto adoption is ‘rapidly gaining traction’ in New York (Blockworks)

  • A new Coinbase report found one-fifth of New Yorkers now own crypto, making the state one of the top 10 states with the largest average value of cryptocurrency by owner. Last week, Tech:NYC co-convened a group of policymakers on this exact topic and noted that, as the national center of crypto startups and the first state to enact regulatory guardrails on digital assets, it’s important we continue to lead by example.

MTA is rolling all of its services into one handy app (TimeOut New York)

  • The MTA is beta-testing a new app that places transit planning and alerts in one place. It’s a tool being co-developed by our friends at Axon Vibe, an alum of the Transit Tech Lab right here in NYC! 

Hip-Hop 50 NYC: A guide to the hip-hop 50 celebrations taking place across the city (ABC New York
