Startup Newsletter: April 2023

Happy Q2! We know the first quarter of the year didn’t wrap up the way any of us expected — the failure of SVB had a disproportionate impact on many of the early-stage startups in our network. Our team worked tirelessly in the hours and days following the bank’s collapse to pull together an all-hands-on-deck effort — city and state government leaders, investors, and other industry peers — to support the most-impacted companies. The worst-case scenario was never realized, but take it from us: New York was ready to step in and help. We immediately spoke directly to both Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams to devise a plan that kept employees paid and businesses open. They stood ready to support the sector then, and we’re fortunate to have elected leaders that will continue doing so should another need arise. While it feels like the sector has taken a hit, tech companies are still hiring! ICYMI: We recently launched the Tech:NYC Jobs Board, a new centralized hub for every open local role at every Tech:NYC member company. As of today, there are nearly 4,000 roles posted on the board, and it automatically updates every 24 hours to bring new listings online every day. As a member of Tech:NYC, your publicly available openings should already have been pulled in. If you don’t see your openings there, please reach out and let us know here.– Team Tech:NYC 🗽
