COVID-19 Digest: June 5

COVID-19 Digest

Friday, June 5, 2020

It has been a difficult week. Like many of you, we are making plans for the important work ahead, but we also hope to use this weekend to find time to rest and reflect. We hope you are able to do the same. Here’s a short post for today:

  • A quick round of updates:

    • NYC begins Phase I of reopening on Monday. Stores will be able to reopen for curbside pickup, but many still won’t. (Bloomberg)

    • NYC reported no new COVID-19 deaths for the first time since the outbreak began. (New York Post) Since March 12, the city’s death toll of 21,752 includes 16,992 confirmed fatalities and 4,760 probable ones.

    • Two great resources: the Movement for Black Lives’ Week of Action is culminating with some ideas for making long-term meaning out of this moment, and FirstMark Capital is hosting an open-source guide of racial justice and education resources.

  • One housekeeping thing: if you haven’t already, be sure to add us ([email protected]) to the contacts in your inbox so future digests don’t get lost.

  • And we’ll leave you with this, something we all need right now: how to hug during a pandemic.

Have a restful weekend. See you Monday!
