The Latest in New York

The latest: Absentee voting opened to all New Yorkers; flags fly at half-mast for virus victims; personal finance tools and resources; chag Pesach samech! Confirmed Cases: 

  • New York State: 149,316 (+10,453)

  • New York City: 81,803 (+4,927)

  • Statewide Fatalities: 6,268 (+779)

  • Patients Discharged: 16,353 (+1,763)

General Updates:

  • The Pentagon reported that the Javits Center and the USNS Comfort are treating 162 patients in total (Bloomberg), despite the facilities having a combined capacity for nearly 3,000. (POLITICO)

  • The suspension of all Broadway performances has been extended through June 7th. (Playbill)

  • Gov. Cuomo announced that all New Yorkers will have the option to vote by absentee ballot in the June 23rd primaries so that nobody has to choose between their health and their civic duty. (Axios)

  • The governor’s office launched a social media campaign to increase social distancing compliance, tagging NYC natives Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez to start the viral movement. (Twitter)
